Plastic recycling is the only waste management method that maintains the material cycle, that is, it turns waste into a product again. Unlike methods such as incineration or landfill, which lead to the destruction of materials, or composting, which is limited to organic waste, recycling plays a key role in environmental sustainability.
Plastic recycling production lines are designed as a complete cycle, with the aim of converting plastic waste into reusable raw materials in various industries. Advanced equipment has been developed for this purpose, which is introduced in detail below.
1. Primary collection and separation
First, plastic waste such as PET bottles, plastic bags, pipes or films is collected. Then operations such as unpacking, removal of impurities and manual or automatic separation are carried out.
2. Washing and preparation
Depending on the type of plastic, specific washing lines are used:
• PET bottle washing line includes the steps of opening, label removal, washing, crushing, drying, friction washing and decolorization.
• Nylon and PP/PE film washing line (such as woven bags) with a capacity of 500 to 1500 kg/h.
• Hard material washing line (HDPE, ABS, PS) for detergent bottles, electronics, pipes and construction profiles.
3. Shredding and Crushing
Waste for subsequent processes must be reduced to smaller sizes:
• Single-shaft, double-shaft, four-shaft light and heavy shredders including DYSSQ, DYSSJ, DYSSZ and DYTSS models for shredding all types of films, pipes, profiles, toys, containers, pallets, barrels, etc.
• DYPS and DYPS-Z series shredders suitable for light and heavy materials, with V-shaped rotor design to reduce dust and increase efficiency.
• Specialized machines such as DYSSG for direct shredding of thick pipes up to 1600 mm in diameter without the need for preliminary cutting.
4. Final sorting and separation
After shredding, the materials are cleaned and separated by the following equipment:
• Metal separator
• Optical color sorter
• Flotation and sedimentation to separate materials with different densities
5. Pelletizing
The prepared material enters the pelletizing line:
• Single-stage and multi-stage extruders (JWL, JWT, JWP, SJZ, JWM) depending on the type of material (PET, PVC, WPC, PP/PE, BOPET, etc.), with features such as:
o Precise viscosity control
o Vacuum dehumidification
o Hydrofoil blades or die surface for cutting the pellets
• Special PET recycling lines with precise control of the viscosity and color of the pellets, suitable for synthetic fiber applications
6. Packaging and reuse
The final pellets can be sold or reused in the plastics, textile, automotive, packaging and building materials industries. At this stage, ancillary equipment such as horizontal mixers, metering pumps, and industrial blades may also be used.
In general, recycling lines, with the development of complete equipment from washing to granulation, play an important role in simplifying the recycling process and increasing the value of waste.
